Festive Family Nature Night @ Monterey
"'Twas the week before Christmas and through the halls of Monterey,
were fun activities for the students to play.
The aroma of pizza filled the air,
and there was plenty left over for friends to share.
Archery, fishing, and trivia galore!
At Family Nature Night, there always something to explore!"
December 18th was SOLE's last Family Nature Night of the year, and it was a blast! We estimated about 38 kids and 21 adults (59 total) attended the event. Thank you Monterey Elementary for coming out and exploring the outdoors with us!
Catamount Institute, Bear Creek Nature Center and Mueller State Park joined us with activities of their own. Catamount sent Monterey students off on a bird hunt, while Bear Creek Nature Center played a "skull matching" game. Mueller State Park brought biofacts on wild turkeys and let students practice their turkey calls!
SOLE as always brought fishing, archery, trivia, and generation wild activities. SOLE also brought in their bird I.D. game.
The raffle was held at 6 pm in the cafeteria. Many students took home some awesome prizes! Congrats to all of our winners!
Thank you to our partners, staff and volunteers who helped make this an unforgettable Family Nature Night! SOLE especially wants to thank the staff at Monterey Elementary for being so welcoming and accommodating.
Happy Holidays from the SOLE Team, and we will see you all next year!
